1:1 Mentorship for Early Intervention Providers

You're committed to excellence, and you know mentorship is key. But... you're not looking for a life coach or some generic community thing. You need REAL support - that fits your budget and your time. Well, good news, friend! I'm here for just that.

And if we're real honest, those early years in early intervention include a whole lotta winging it. Facebook forums are often mean, and colleagues can be scarce. You have high expectations for yourself, which means you can also be your toughest critic.

Nobody comes out of school knowing it all. Graduate school only gets you so far when a parent is looking at you for the answer to their child's struggle.

You don't NEED to do this alone.

"As a new OT in early intervention, I have felt supported and much more confident thanks to our mentorship sessions. Katie's been a wealth of knowledge and has put me at ease navigating a new and often lonely setting."

How It Works

This is not a one-sized cookie cutter experience. We design a mentorship program that meets YOUR needs.

custom program

You get a dedicated resource folder that houses the things we find will be most helpful + beneficial. Yours to keep, forever.

curated materials

Investing in yourself not only strengthens your practice - it enhances your self-awareness, and helps you discover your unique strengths.

self-discovery

When I started in EI, I had very little support at all. Honestly, it sucked.

If I'm brutally honest, I made mistakes and missed things with children + families in those early years - not because I didn't care or wasn't trying...but because I just didn't have the experience AND I didn't have the mentorship.

When I would ask questions, I was often met with disdain for not already knowing the answer. Shame taught me to keep my mouth shut and figure it out as I went along.

But that wasn't fair to me or the families I served. After years in EI, I finally got the chance to BE mentored, and to mentor others. It changed my practice and my life completely.

Here's What You Need

safe space for honest questions

Learning starts where you need it, not by some arbitrary standard of what you should already know.

Reflection + feedback

Unlike AI, a real-life mentor can provide feedback and reflection based on decades of practice and knowledge. Nuance is found in the human experience.

warmth, support + respect

Mentorship is built on relationship. My superpower is connecting with others - and helping them see their unique strengths + gifts.

Is This Right For You?

Who is this for?

1:1 mentorship with Katie is for occupational therapists who are early in their early intervention journey — or who've been practicing for a while but feel like they're winging it more than they'd like to admit. If you're newly licensed and trying to get your bearings, or you're a few years in and realizing that your graduate program didn't quite prepare you for the complexity of early intervention practice, you're in the right place.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is it?

Mentorship is available as single sessions or a package. Rates start at $85/60 minute session, or $65/session for packages of 3+ sessions. If you're joining Hello Joy OT as a Missouri First Steps contractor, mentorship support is built into that relationship at no additional cost.

Can I earn CEUs for mentorship?

Maybe.

AOTA recognizes that there are multiple methods by which an OT can demonstrate continuing competence — including mentorship — not just formal CEU coursework. That said, whether your state board will accept mentorship hours toward license renewal depends on where you're licensed.

AOTA's model continuing competence guidelines allow OTs to earn 1 contact hour for every 5 hours spent in formal mentorship activities. Some state boards have adopted this framework; others haven't.

Missouri's board requires you to self-determine whether an activity qualifies — so your best move is to document our sessions carefully (dates, duration, topics covered) and check directly with the Missouri State Board of Occupational Therapy about whether mentorship hours apply to your renewal.
